The Lectio Magistralis, given by neuroscientist Antonio Damasio at the IUAV University of Venice on May 9th, provided an opportunity for Tuned-Lombardini22 director Davide Ruzzon to explore, in the wonderful context of Palazzo Badoer, those themes that have emerged in recent decades that deeply link the world of neuroscience to that of architecture.

The architect asked the neuroscientist whether emotions could be considered as embodied memories linked to sensory-motor metaphors; whether architecture could be understood as an externalization of our bodily memories; and whether abstract thoughts are rooted in the bodily sensations that our ancestors felt as they moved through natural spaces.
